25/05/2011 making wall frames

today we were in class fr about 2periods going over buit 4543, going over roofs, like webbing roofs and struts and ties, erection and fixing- gable roofs, hip or semi gable, line, etc... going over how to make a roof and what is needed and how to set it up and where to put ur studs, noggs, double top plate, ceiling battens, purlins etc.. after lunch break, we headed down to the site, having our little tool box talk .. richard and marty went over how to do the wall framing, how to do the bearers, where to put the noggs in, the studs, how far apart the studs and nogz wer,... we started of by measuring the 7 studs for our wall framing, 2420mm, two of the studs had packers between them , measured out the top and bottom plate placed both studs into place then nailed it to the studs, we then inserted our nogz in place, we had 2 rows of nogz between each stud and nailed them in, after that we had to laminate 2 timebers together for our lintel then put that at the top, then we inserted an metal brace going from one corner to the other, we used the skill saw to cut how deep the metal brace will go into the wall frames, then nailed it in.. we made 2 wall frames then stood them up and put them where they were suppose to go, it took us a while to fit it into place but at the end it looked good.
